Dayco Product Engineers have a strategic role in the design and development of new products, therefore high motivation to work in a fast-growing business environment is a must for any applicant to this position. This role will report into the Lead Engineer and will be part of a small and close-knit team of expert engineers.

Position

The resource will be responsible for implementation of supplier VAVE projects to achieve overall current and future Cost Reduction Budget and Stretch targets. Focused on innovation improvements related to supplier key cost drivers such as: Design, Technology, Materials, Manufacturing Process, Value Chain and Transactional Inefficiencies. Key is to continuously identifying, developing and executing VAVE ideas and projects for both OE and aftermarket products.

In addiction the resourse will be responsible for ESG which is a framework used to assess supplier business practices and performance on various sustainability and ethical subjects. He/she also provides a way to measure business risks and opportunities in those areas. Responsible the obtain and report out on supplier ESG related subjects and support responds to customer requirements. Identification of ESG projects which very well could also transition into ESG + VAVE projects to improve sustainability and reduce cost.

Main activities of the incumbent will be:

  • Develop and define VAVE and/or ESG projects within organization utilizing standard methodologies with a focus on increasing profit margins and/or customer satisfaction.
  • Actively engage across the organization to co-develop and deploy a cohesive VAVE sourcing strategy that incorporates enterprise-wide business needs for logistics, direct, indirect and Aftermarket materials.
  • Drive and deliver VAVE cost saving opportunities aligned with organization commitments. Provide training, frameworks and oversight for implementation of VAVE projects to all teams.
  • Translation of VAVE plans into margin contributions in accordance with market segment requirements in support of business plans and strategies.
  • Active leadership and participation in developing and driving the VAVE process implementation and alignment across procurement, RD&E, sales and program management.
  • Provide oversight for implementation of VAVE initiatives as needed to ensure the VAVE practice is understood and deployed effectively across the enterprise.
  • Direct VAVE efforts that lead to cost optimization, improved quality & service while enhancing innovation through strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management and risk mitigation.
  • Create and foster a partnership of the RD&E, sales, operations and procurement organizations during the product development and quoting stages.
  • Assumes ownership of and leads the corporate development standard best practices, capabilities, tools and processes as it relates to VAVE and/or SGE initiatives.
  • Define and implement the ESG framework used to assess supplier business practices and performance on various sustainability and ethical subjects. Provides a way to measure business risks and opportunities in those areas.
  • Obtain and report out on supplier ESG related subjects and support responds to customer requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree or Master Degree in Engineering / Management Engineering /Supply Chain Management / Business or similar study;
  • Proven ability to lead team efforts to complete complex projects and finish the projects with high quality and in a timely manner;
  • Ability to lead across multiple functions, particularly with individuals who do not have reporting relationship;
  • Exceptional communication abilities;
  • Strong relationship building capabilities – both internal and external;
  • Ability to read, and comprehend technical documents (drawings, specs, CAD data, engineering change documents, etc.) as well as government rules and regulations related to ESG;
  • Considerable amount of initiative and a high level of independent judgment;
  • Good global knowledge on ESG related subjects, Product Portfolio, Purchasing, Supply Chain and Testing & Validation is a strength.
